This and That

Zoomars -A Great Visit

Posted on: November 16, 2011

My son’s first preschool field trip was last week to Zoomars in San Juan Capistrano.

Beside this being our first time to this famous petting zoo, the field trip was the first time he rode on a train. He as overcome with excitement!

He loves trains and the whole way he was staring out the window pointing out everything as we past.

Zoomars is in the historic distric of Los Rios and this is the cutest place. Country cottages, dirt roads and old time horse tie posts. I highly recommend a visit if only for the district and it’s nice that the missions are right down the street. You and the family can easily make a day out of it.

We started off feeding some goats, and a donkey (not pictured).

Then he rode a huge horse.

Then a train ride.

We ended our visit with holding a guninee pig and petting some rabbits.

Note: this was the only free part of the fun. The food to feed the goats, the horse ride, and the train ride all costs extra.

The only downer was that the train from Irvine to San Juan doesn’t travel during the day during the week. So if you visit at 10am like us and are done at 11:30am, the next train doesn’t arrive until 1:30pm. So pack a lunch and visit the city shops because you have time to kill.

We had a wonderful time at Zoomars and riding the train. Great first field trip.
